"The Intersection of Cybersecurity and Public Safety. Keeping Your Community Safe in the Digital Age"
Dr. Michael Lehrfeld, East Tennessee State University
Information is the new Oil. Keeping information secure but usable is a non-trivial task within our highly interconnected, global world. Data breaches have become so commonplace that they rarely make the evening news cycle. Criminal activity has morphed and utilizes technology to exploit new victims at an astounding rate. This is not a surprise to anyone. But where do people turn to get help protecting themselves, their families, and their information?
Coincidently, libraries are uniquely positioned to assist in this call. Libraries exist to help patrons find, digest, and use information. And do it with excellence. This talk will discuss the current threat landscape in Cyberspace and provide operational activities that libraries can explore to help keep their community digitally safe.

User Community Presentations:
2:00 - 2:30pm
Concurrent Session A:
"Pioneering the Pathways of Mixpanel"
Daniel Naas, University of Kentucky
Craig Rosenbeck, Ball State University
Mixpanel is the analytics platform that will replace Oracle Business Intelligence during the transition to the Primo Next Discovery Experience. It will provide anonymous real-time data about user behavior in Primo. We have been learning about Mixpanel separately from Primo to prepare us for the change, and we would like to share our experience with the eBUG community. The goal is to display an overview of Mixpanel in order for a user to gain insight into the product. Even though the main product for Mixpanel is Primo. This product has an opportunity for Analytics with the Ex Libris Suite. The reports are samples of what the user base may use with discovery. We are hoping the audience comes away with a better confidence of Mixpanel. We will also briefly touch on Selenium, a web automation tool we used to generate test data.
Concurrent Session B:
"Are We Meeting Demand? Using Rapido and Rialto to Drive Purchasing Decisions"
Jennifer Young, East Tennessee State University
This presentation explores how Rapido and Rialto work together to support responsive, user-driven collection development. Integrating Rialto's real-time marketplace and Rapido provides interlibrary loan staff with the ability to move directly from processing an interlibrary loan request to making an informed purchase decision all within the Alma system.
2:40- 3:10pm
Concurrent Session A:
"Metadata AI Assistant: Hero, Hack or Hokum?"
Gypsy Moody, Belmont University
A (mostly solo) cataloger's observations and reflections on experimenting with the Metadata AI Assistant while completing original and complex cataloging of "problem children" titles.
Concurrent Session B:
"Keep it Secret. Keep it Safe": Centralizing e-Resource License Terms to Support Cross-Departmental Access"
Joni Addis, Clemson University
Gone are the days when license agreements could be hidden away in filing cabinets, accessible to only a select few. Learn how e-Resources, Acquisitions, and Resource Sharing staff at Clemson University collaborated to centralize and enhance license storage and configuration procedures using Alma, improving interdepartmental access to license terms and ensuring greater compliance.
3:20 - 3:50pm
Concurrent Session A:
"Embedding Digital Objects Into Primo VE Search Interface"
Daniel Naas, University of Kentucky
Eric Weig, University of Kentucky
In 2022, the University of Kentucky Libraries used the Primo VE to index metadata records for the Kentucky Digital Newspaper Program. The database records included full-text alongside descriptive metadata, and search results included URLs pointing to the digital newspaper objects hosted on the Internet Archive. In 2025, the University of Kentucky Libraries further refined this approach by hosting the digital newspaper objects locally, and embedding them within the full record display of the Primo VE Search Interface. This digital newspaper object viewer integration was accomplished with minimal changes to the Primo VE Search Interface, and provides a more seamless user experience. We will demonstrate it in action and get in to the nuts and bolts of how we accomplished our goals with our Primo customization package.
Concurrent Session B:
"Building a More Accessible Platform: The ELUNA/IGeLU Accessibility Community of Practice"
Katie Gohn, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
ELUNA and IGeLU have just launched the Accessibility Community of Practice, but what is it and who is involved. In this presentation, you'll hear about the goals and intentions of the Accessibility Community of Practice and learn about ways you can be a part of making all Ex Libris products more accessible. A brief introduction to the Community of Practice will be followed by a general conversation about current accessibility priorities or issues you are encountering with Ex Libris products.
4:00- 4:30pm
Concurrent Session A:
"Looking for More Trouble with Analytics -- and Fixing Problems for Good!"
Kathryn Lybarger, University of Kentucky
Problems in catalog data can make it harder for patrons to find and use your library resources. For library staff, problems may make your reports and analyses of metadata incomplete or misleading. By searching for different types of problems directly, we can identify and resolve many issues before they cause any more trouble. In this session, we will look at an expanded collection of Alma Analytics reports and accompanying websites that everyone can use to find problems in their own catalogs, and modify for their library's specific needs. We will also look at tools for monitoring your catalog for new problems so that they can be fixed quickly and prevented from coming back.
Concurrent Session B:
"E-resources licensing and accessibility: using Alma license terms for resource sharing and Title II compliance"
Jen Montavon-Green, University of Kentucky
Courtney Taulbee, University of Kentucky
Since 2018, the University of Kentucky Libraries has been utilizing Alma license terms to make electronic resource license information available for unit workflows. The Electronic Resources unit and the Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery unit continue to collaborate in this endeavor, ensuring clarity and understanding of our licenses is communicated in these displays. Recently, there has been a focus on Title II compliance changes, and both unit heads are working to ensure that accessibility will be prioritized within our licenses and practices. In this presentation, the heads of Electronic Resources and Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery will discuss the steps taken to set up the license terms in Alma, methods for analyzing licenses that need remediation, and plans we are undertaking to ensure the new accessibility prioritizations are shared in these terms.
